Pros
You can't find a more well-regarded company that actually deserves the hype it gets. You'll work on cutting edge projects / solve important issues that impact your community and the world You'll meet interesting people who are your colleagues, managers, and senior management.
Cons
The commute can take between 1.5 hours to 1.75 hours each way on the shuttle - sometimes 2 hours each way on a busy day or rainy day.
Compensation
Salary: $115k - $130k (annual)
Pros
Froogle is a world of its own. At every other company, there were lots of people who had serious gaps in their skills. At Froogle, I could have a serious work conversation about technology with everyone. Froogle has almost all code in the same source repository. An engineer can look at the code, easily execute because it comes with intelligent defaults and standard build process, and contribute enhancements/bug fixes.
Cons
Promotions tend to be tied to launching a project that makes peers at a higher level happy. Managers tend to become managers for their tech skills and not management skills. This isn’t a complete con because a manager with no clue in tech in worse.
Compensation
Salary: $90k - $110k (annual)
Pros
Strong engineering culture, excellent peers, lots of learning opportunities.
Cons
It's a large organization with lots of internal politics and bureaucratic procedures.
Compensation
Salary: $125k - $132.5k (annual)
